An Abbreviated Account of Breitling Watches
It was in 1884 St-Imeir, Switzerland, that Leon Breitling opened up his inaugural store. There, he particularized in timers for the utilization of scientists and professionals. The company developed and he moved the central office to Paris. He also had his son Gaston into the business. Gaston assumed control of the company after his father’s demise in 1914.
In 1923, the initial Breitling watch with an autonomous timer push piece was inaugurated on the market. In 1942 the company bragged of clients such as the American Armed Forces, as well as introducing an additional initiative in the industry: the Chronomat Breitling watch, which was the first chronograph that exhibited with a circular side rule.
In 1962, the astronaut Scott Carpenter wore the ‘Cosmonaute’ Breitling watch on his wrist during his journey aboard the space shuttle Aurora 7. In 1979, Earnest Schneider bought the Breitling watch company after it being a family company for three generations.
